Bukayo Saka an injury doubt for England squad despite call-up, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirms

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is unsure if Bukayo Saka will link up with England next week.

The teenager has been struggling with a hamstring issue and he had to come off at half-time of last week’s north London derby.

Saka subsequently missed Thursday’s Europa League defeat to Olympiacos and he is a doubt for Sunday’s trip to West Ham too.

The forward was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for next week’s international break, but Arteta is unsure if Saka will go.

“We don’t know, it depends how he feels in the next few days,” he said.

“We spoke yesterday and he wasn’t ready to be involved today, we made that decision.

“We’ll make the decision for Sunday against West Ham and then we will talk with the doctors and the national team to decide what we do.”

Saka has shone for Arsenal this season and was recently described by Southgate as a “breath of fresh air”.
