XXXTentacion’s video for Moonlight has been released three months after the rapper’s death.

The US musician, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed back in June at the age of 20.

He was killed in Florida after being ambushed by two men, according to police.

Moonlight featured on his second album and was the second-highest charting song of Onfroy’s career after it shot to number 13 in the wake of his death.

The video shows the late rap star walking through a party held in the woods before he sits back to watch from afar.

He is credited as the writer and creative director of the video, which concludes with a tribute to the star.

It reads: “Energy never dies. He is amongst us. Long live Jah.

Fans flocked to the comments section to mourn the death of the rapper.

XXXTentacion: The rapper's mother posted a picture of his tomb on Instagram, along with the caption: "My guardian angel."

One Youtube comment read: “Love you man it isn’t the same without you everyday I miss you everyday I miss your everyday I miss you positivity you were and still are one of the best if not one of the most influential rappers of the 21st century I love you so much R.I.P X”

Another user posted: “Omg love this also this scared the c*** out of me when I saw this in my notification and I wished he was alive.”

A third added: “Why they kill this beautiful soul?”

Meanwhile another said: “Seeing him smile in the same outfit he got killed in, breaks my heart into a million pieces, rest easy yung legend.” [sic]

The track comes just days after Lil Wayne released track Don't Cry which he worked on with the rapper in the months prior to his death.

It is alleged that a car, driven by XXXTentacion, was blocked by a dark-coloured SUV as it was exiting the River Motor Sports motorcycle shop in Deerfield Beach, in Florida.

Following this, two masked men are alleged to have got out of the SUV and intended to rob the 20-year-old rapper.

Police say XXXTentacion had a Louis Vuitton bag on him with a huge amount of cash inside - $50,000 (£38,000).

A struggle is then alleged to have ensued and the rapper was shot multiple times by one or more gunman, who took the bag and fled, authorities said.
