Late rapper XXXTentacion features on Lil Wayne’s eagerly-awaited new album Carter V, and it’s proved rather emotional for his fans.

The US musician, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed back in June at the age of 20, but managed to work with Wayne in the months before his death.

Released on Friday, the new track Don’t Cry has left fans of the late rapper feeling upset thanks to the hard-hitting lyrics.

“I see death around the corner / And the U-turn sign’s lookin’ like a smile,” Lil Wayne raps on the track.

“When #DontCry came on I was prepared. Ugh We miss you @xxxtentacion,” one person wrote on Twitter following the album release.

“The Carter V intro needed an emotional disclaimer before in went into that Xxxtentacion feature,” another wrote.

Another posted: “Still get emotional every time I hear @xxxtentacion's music or voice.”

The eagerly-awaited new album was finally released this week after months of being pushed back.

The record features a number of high profile collaborations including Nicki Minaj on Dark Side of the Moon as well as Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Sosamann.

Four men were recently charged in connection with the US rapper’s death on June 18.

It is alleged that a car, driven by XXXTentacion, was blocked by a dark-coloured SUV as it was exiting the River Motor Sports motorcycle shop in Deerfield Beach, in Florida.

Following this, two masked men are alleged to have got out of the SUV and intended to rob the 20-year-old rapper.

Police say XXXTentacion had a Louis Vuitton bag on him with a huge amount of cash inside - $50,000 (£38,000).

A struggle is then alleged to have ensued and the rapper was shot multiple times by one or more gunman, who took the bag and fled, authorities said.
