Noel Gallagher will headline a benefit concert to mark the reopening of Manchester Arena next month.

The High Flying Birds frontman, 50, will join a host of musicians from the North West on September 9 to honour those who were killed in the terror attack at the venue.

Some 22 people lost their lives after suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated explosives at an Ariana Grande gig on May 22.

The upcoming concert, named We Are Manchester, will also welcome The Courteeners, Blossoms, Rick Astley, and poet Tony Walsh.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow with all proceeds going towards funding a permanent memorial to the victims.

Gallagher’s song Don't Look Back In Anger became a poignant anthem in the wake of the attack after a crowd started singing it at a memorial held in Manchester city centre.

His brother, and former Oasis bandmate, Liam Gallagher sang an A cappella version of the 1995 song at Glastonbury Festival while Chris Martin and Grande teamed up to perform the song at the One Love Manchester concert in June.

Liam, Olly Murs, Justin Bieber, Little Mix, Robbie Williams, Take That, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas and Mumford and Sons played the benefit concert which raised £2 million for the We Love Manchester Emergency fund. All donations went to the victims and families of those affected by the attack.
