Kanye West may face competition in his bid for Presidency in 2020.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has thrown his hat into the ring to succeed Donald Trump.

Johnson, 44, said he wouldn’t rule out a move from acting to politics.

Speaking to Vanity Fair in the wake of Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton he said: “I wouldn't rule it out. It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it's possible. This past election shows that anything can happen.”

It’s not the first time the Baywatch actor has spoken about his political ambitions.

Earlier this year he described the idea of being President as “alluring”.

Speaking to GQ he said: “I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring.

“And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale.”

Speaking on stage at the VMAs, West said: “I don't know what I finna lose after this. It don't matter, though. It's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth.

“And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

He later told Radio 1’s Annie Mac that he was serious, saying: “When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views.

“I don’t have views on politics, I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth.

“If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive I’m going to try to do it.”

Trump defied the odds to become President-elect after a lengthy campaign trail.

He will begin his tenure as President, with Mike Pence as his Vice, after his inauguration in January.
