London weather: Prepare for freezing temperatures

28 November 2012

London shivered today as temperatures plunged with a warning that icy conditions are on the way.

A Met Office spokesman said that today temperatures reached a maximum of 7C - one below the average for this time of year.

But they added that it was going to get even colder tomorrow with temperature likely to fall to freezing - hitting a low of 0C.

He said: "London's weather is generally going to be dry and settled for the rest of today, tonight, tomorrow and into Sunday morning.

"It will start reaching freezing temperatures with some frost and fog patches but otherwise it is about normal for this time of year when you would expect highs of 8C or 9C."

The Met Office said the next few days will see a continuation of the dry conditions.

And despite bookies slashing the odds on a white Christmas for London it seemed - for now at least - they may be premature.

He said: "It is still too early to say if London will get a white Christmas but it will be likely that come December 25 we will see the same conditions that we have at the moment."
