A woman was dragged to the ground and sexually assaulted on a footpath by a busy road in west London, police said.

Two passing pedestrians - as well as motorists driving past - are thought to have witnessed the assault in Hammersmith.

Scotland Yard said: "A woman, aged in her 30s was attacked, dragged to the ground and sexually assaulted on the south footpath of the Great West Road about 10 metres before the junction with Springwell Road."

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the sex attack, which happened between 8.30 and 8.40pm on Sunday, February 8.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged between 35 and 40, with black wavy hair. He was clean-shaven and was wearing a blue shirt, black trousers and a hip length green jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0207161 9813 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
