An unemployed man has admitted stabbing a Liverpool football fan to death in a bar.

Transport distribution worker Alex Jarmay, 26, staggered backwards out of the Bar Uno, in Camden, north London, after what appears to be a random attack.

Mr Jarmay, of Bromborough, Wirral, collapsed on a step outside in February.

He had travelled to the capital with his brother Luke, 22, and friends to watch the Reds play Cardiff in the Carling Cup Final, which Liverpool won the next day.

The group of around 12 friends, all said to be respectable, professional people, had gone out for a quiet drink.

Paul Beck, 29, of Spring Place, Kentish Town, north London, pleaded guilty to murder at the Old Bailey.

His brother Damien, 24, of the same address, pleaded guilty to wounding Luke Jarmay. His plea of not guilty to murder was accepted.

Outside court, Detective Inspector Mark Lawson said: "We have watched CCTV and this appears to have been a random attack.

"They did nothing to provoke this attack. The friends had gone out for a quiet night out before the match.

"They were not looking for trouble.

"We just don't know what happened. The worst thing is that it could have been anyone."
