Two brothers who allegedly spent eight hours on a roof in a dramatic stand-off with police have been charged with affray and criminal damage.

Billy Watson, 20, and his 18-year-old brother Charlie, both of no fixed address, will appear at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

They are accused of spending eight hours in a stand-off with police on a roof in Kilburn after officers allegedly saw them tampering with a motorcycle and confronted them.

Police said about 70 people were given shelter in nearby Church of the Sacred Heart while the situation was ongoing.

They are both charged with one count of affray and two counts of criminal damage.
