Jonny Wilkinson has undergone an operation on his injured shoulder and is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow.
England's World Cup hero re-injured the shoulder playing for Newcastle Falcons following his triumphant return from Australia and is set to miss the entire RBS 6 Nations Championship.
Paul Grayson will replace Wilkinson for the opening game against Italy. Sir Clive Woodward said he wanted an experienced head that is used to playing with squad to replace England's top scoring kicker.
