Wild ruled out of Tri-Nations

Huddersfield second-rower Stephen Wild has withdrawn from Great Britain's standby squad for the Gillette Tri-Nations Series because of injury.

The 25-year-old former Wigan player sustained a broken thumb - which has now been pinned - during the final game of the season against Bradford. However, it was not discovered until he had a second X-ray earlier this week.

"It's an absolutely massive blow for Stephen," said Huddersfield coach and Great Britain assistant Jon Sharp. "He's obviously bitterly disappointed, although I don't think it's really sunk in yet."
