Vieira glee at captaincy

14 April 2012

Patrick Vieira said being made France captain should give him even more confidence.

Arsenal's 28-year-old midfielder is nursing an injured thigh but is with the France squad in Rennes ahead of their friendly with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

He said: "I hope the armband will bring me as much satisfaction as with Arsenal.

"With the Gunners I gained more selfconfidence. Before being Arsenal's captain I was sometimes reacting too much and too fast.

"Since, I have learned my lesson and I know I must be exemplary. I hope the armband will also help me progress with the France team."
