Vialli hopeful over Smith

13 April 2012

Watford manager Gianluca Vialli hopes to have striker Tommy Smith available for the game against Bradford on Good Friday.

Smith missed the 2-0 defeat at Barnsley with a back injury, but Vialli is keeping his fingers crossed the 21-year-old will be fit enough to make a quick return to the side.

"I don't think the problem is anything to worry about," said Vialli. "I was hoping he would be able to play at Barnsley, but he never seemed to get better following the Coventry game last week. He should be okay to play on Friday."

Smith's recovery would be a timely boost for Vialli, as the Hornets boss could be without Gifton Noel-Williams and skipper Filippo Galli for the visit of the Bantams to Vicarage Road.
