United to open up to Glazer

14 April 2012

Manchester United are expected to open their books to Malcolm Glazer today in a move which is certain to spark fresh outrage from the club's fans.

The move is a significant victory for the American billionaire in his £800million battle to seize control of Old Trafford.

United refused to give him access to the books when his last bid for the club failed at the end of last year.

Although the United board could still reject his latest offer, they have granted him a period of "due dilligence" to finalise his formal 300p a share bid.

An official announcement is due to be made later today although, amid fears of protests from militant fans at United's derby clash with Manchester City on Sunday, could be delayed to next week.
