Tyson: I'm not Mother Theresa

13 April 2012

Mike Tyson attempted to keep his raging emotions in control as he was quizzed by five state commissioners at his hearing in Las Vegas.

Under questioning about his aggression following the press conference fight, Tyson denied he had a problem keeping control and said: "I'm crazy. I'm not crazy like that.

"I might want to have sex in a crazy place but I would not rape or murder someone."

But Tyson's lawyer, Bob Hess, attempted to claim Tyson had not started the brawl but had been hit first by one of Lewis's entourage.

He added: "Mr Tyson swung his left arm and fist in a manner that compared to his usual manner was lackadaisical."

And he claimed Tyson's outburst after the brawl, in which he shouted at a journalist who called for him to be put in a straitjacket and grabbed his crotch, shouting obscenities at a female photographer, was because he was provoked by the journalist.

Tyson said: "I was violated. I was struck. I felt humiliated and I struck back.

"I tried to humiliate him like he humiliated me. At that time I didn't care what was right and wrong. I was embarrassed, that was when I struck out against a reporter the way I did."

And he added: "I am not Mother Theresa and I am not Charles Manson."
