Turner's Saturday and Sunday Earners - Bank on Bajan

13 April 2012

Graham Lee has yet to taste defeat on BLUE BAJAN (Haydock, nap, 2.00) and the classy rider looks to have a great chance of retaining his unbeaten record with victory in today's Swinton Hurdle.

A big field, a strong pace and a sound surface appear to be ideal conditions for Andy Turnell's charge and success for Lee in one of the season's major hurdle races would be a welcome boost after a long spell on the sidelines which resulted in him missing wins at Cheltenham and Punchestown.

After landing novice events at Leicester and Doncaster — both with Lee in the saddle — Blue Bajan ran respectably in both the Totesport Trophy and the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.

He was then brushed aside at Aintree by the improving Pierrot Lunaire, but jumped with more fluency under Tom Scudamore on that better ground and could find further improvement with conditions on the fast side at Haydock.

Sir Michael Stoute enjoyed a successful Chester and the Newmarket handler can maintain his good run with JAMBORETTA (Ascot, nb, 1.45).

She clocked a fast time at Sandown on her last run and looks the sort to improve with racing, just the type her trainer is so adept at taking through the ranks.

There are plenty of tough Saturday handicaps for punters to tackle, not least the Victoria Cup in which AL KHALEEJ (Ascot, 2.20) holds outstanding claims.

Ed Dunlop's son of Sakhee looked a stronger individual when winning at Kempton last time and should be thereabouts granted a patient ride from Ryan Moore. Today's lay vote goes to Regal Flush (Ascot, 1.10).
