Tottenham set to cut their losses on out of favour defender

Ricardo Rocha could be heading back to Benfica - less than 12 months after the Portuguese club sold him to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 29-year-old joined Spurs for £3.3million in last season's January transfer window, but he has made just 16 starts.

And Benfica are reportedly prepared to make a £2.5m bid for Rocha when the transfer window reopens on January 1.

Rocha has been ruled out for at least three weeks after undergoing ankle surgery.
