Tim ready for Roddick

14 April 2012

Tim Henman booked a quarter-final date with Andy Roddick at the Pacific Life tournament in Indian Wells after an impressive 6-1, 6-3 win over Wayne Arthurs.

The British No1 said: "I only made six unforced errors in the match. I had five breakpoints, and I took them all. My return play, in general, was really, really good. I had to make him play as many volleys as possible because he can hit some flashy volleys, but sometimes he can be a bit erratic. I was also mixing it up well and serving aggressively."

Third seed Roddick beat Frenchman Nicolas Escude 6-3, 6-2. Henman, who has won two of his previous three meetings with Roddick, added: "I'm quick enough to get a lot of balls back. That's something you need to do against Roddick."
