Tigers poised to sign Widders

12 April 2012

South Sydney forward Dean Widders is set to join Castleford for 2008, the Australian club have announced.

The 28-year-old former Parramatta second row is to be released from his Rabbitohs contract to move to Super League.

Reports in Australia claim Widders has agreed a three-year deal with the Tigers, who are currently bottom of Super League but assured of a place in the competition until 2011.

Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson told his club's official website, www.rabbitohs.com.au: "Dean is one of the game's true gentlemen, a hard-working community hero and a fine footballer. We wish him the best of luck at Castleford."
