Elfenesh Alemu (Ethiopia, age 29, best 2:24:29) Alemu has a relatively ordinary personal best which does not reflect her ability. The Ethiopians are confident she will do better than her sixth at Sydney Games.
Mizuki Noguchi (Japan, age 26, best 2:21:18) A real danger. Not averse, reportedly, to hammering out 840 miles a month in training, the world silver medallist has compiled a considerable road race record.
Margaret Okayo (Kenya, age 28, best 2:20:43) Could be the biggest threat to Radcliffe. Consistently excellent, she put a London Marathon triumph next to her two New York titles this year.
