Johanna Konta overcame a later injury scare to beat World No.1 Angelique Kerber 6-3 6-4, having already defeated French Open Champion Jelena Ostapenko in one dramatic afternoon at Eastbourne.

The British No.1 had to play five sets against two fierce opponents on the grass, but was good value for her win in both matches as she continues her preparation for Wimbledon.

20-year old Ostapenko has blitzed through most of the WTA in recent weeks, but Konta was able to come out on top 7-5 3-6 6-4 against the hard-hitting Latvian.

She made easier work of last year's Wimbledon finalist Konta, although a slip during an unsuccessful match-point was a cause for concern as Konta looked to have hurt her head. She recovered to win the next two points and progress to the semi-finals.

Heather Watson also booked her place in the last four, defeating both Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Barbora Strýcová in what was a very successful day for British Women's tennis.
