Teddy given extra time

West Ham remain in no rush to talk to striker Teddy Sheringham about extending his contract, despite his sixth goal in as many matches, in the 3-0 win over Coventry.

Sheringham, 39 last week, scored with a twice-taken penalty after Richard Shaw had headed in an own goal, with Bobby Zamora adding a late third from a Matt Etherington cross.

Sheringham said today that he wants to carry on playing next season but managing director Paul Aldridge confirmed: "We haven't talked to Teddy yet. There is plenty of time."

West Ham have won their last three matches, but are still outside the play-off places. They meet Millwall on Saturday and manager Alan Pardew said: "The teams around us are in good form, but they can't all win every week and we've got to make sure we are there to capitalise on any mistakes."
