Steelers smash 100 point-barrier

13 April 2012

Sheffield Steelers smashed through the 100-point barrier as they came from three goals down to beat London Knights 4-3 after penalty shots at the Sheffield Arena.

The new league champions were stunned as powerplay goals from Rich Bronilla and Mikko Koivunoro, and a marker from Bryan Richardson, put London firmly in control in the first period.

But Sheffield hit back later in the session as David Longstaff and Paul Beraldo reduced the arrears to one, with the equaliser finally arriving seven minutes from the end of regulation from Rick Brebant.

Sheffield avoided a third successive overtime league defeat at home before Shayne McCosh struck the winning penalty shot against former Steelers netminder Shawn Silver.
