Sport hit by cold weather

13 April 2012

The icy weather caused havoc with the country's sport today.

All today's racing meetings, including the all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton, were abandoned due to frost, and prospects for tomorrow's cards also look grim. Catterick and Plumpton have already been called off and inspections for the other four meetings will take place later today.

Tomorrow's football has also been hit. Brentford's match against Cardiff at Griffin Park has been postponed because of a frozen pitch and pitch inspections are planned today at Brighton, Peterborough, Mansfield, Rochdale, Scunthorpe and Shrewsbury.
