Scolari cracks whip and puts Chelsea's stars under starter's orders a week early

Luiz Felipe Scolari has ordered his Chelsea stars to cut short their holidays - because he is starting work a week earlier than planned.

Scolari issued the shock demand to the players not involved in Euro 2008 and expects them in for pre-season training on Monday, July 7, according to the Daily Mirror.

He only finished his involvement with Portugal when Germany knocked them out of Euro 2008 in the quarter-finals last week but he is keen to start his new job.

Chelsea had been planning to return later than their rivals, particularly as they were so late in arranging Avram Grant's successor.

But Scolari is reported to be refreshed after a brief holiday and is keen to begin his preparations for the new season.
