Sadlier out for Portsmouth trip

13 April 2012

Manager Mark McGhee may step up his search for new players after revealing Richard Sadlier could miss Millwall's trip to Portsmouth on Saturday with a back injury.

The prolific forward has been plagued with the injury for several weeks and was forced to leave the pitch after just 20 minutes during the 2-1 win over Preston at The Den last night. Steve Claridge, in his second game back after a knee injury, scored both goals.

McGhee said: "Richard has been carrying the injury for a while now and I am not sure if he is going to be okay for the Portsmouth game. I have only got two phones and I am using them most of the time to try and strengthen the squad. There are things in the pipeline and I would like to think there is something imminent but whether it comes off is another matter."

McGhee should be boosted by the return of influential defender Sean Dyche who has missed the last two games through illness.

Dyche will earn an immediate recall to the side in place of Darren Ward who proved a steady replacement in his absence.

McGhee added: "Sean has got his strength back now and should be fine for the Portsmouth game.

"However, I have been very pleased with the way Darren Ward has come back into the side."
