Aaron Shingler arrived late on the Test scene and has never been to Twickenham but he is determined to make a major impact as one of 10 Scarlets players in the Wales team to face England on Saturday.

Shingler helped Scarlets win the Pro12 title but was not expected to play a big role for Wales because of the riches available in the back row.

However, injuries to Taulupe Faletau, Dan Lydiate and Sam Warburton have opened the way for the flanker to join his club-mates in the national side.

Shingler is relishing his first match at Twickenham. He said: “It’s probably going to be the biggest challenge for me personally for a while, so I’m looking forward to that.

“I’ve never been to Twickenham but I’ve obviously watched games there on the TV for many years, so it’s quite surreal to be there for such a big game. The game on Saturday is going to be a lot more physical, so that’s what I’m preparing for.

“England are pretty strong everywhere, so it’s going to be a competitive game for sure.

“This is pretty special; it’s Wales and England at Twickenham. It’s going to be a great day.”

Wales are aiming to replicate their achievements in 2012 and 2015, when they defeated England at Twickenham.
