Blunder: BBC Sport apologise for 'Ballsack' slip
Standard Sport10 November 2014

BBC Sport has apologised after mistakenly referring to Wales lock Jake Ball as ‘Jake Ballsack’.

The gaffe was made in an online preview of Wales’ clash with Australia in the Autumn Internationals on Saturday.

Listing the Wales squad to face the Wallabies, BBC Sport wrote “Jake Ballsack (Scarlets)”.

The blunder was picked up by Ball’s team-mate, Jamie Roberts, who tweeted: “Haha spot the error @bbcsport @bbcwalessport …I’ll give you a clue – he plays second row for us!! ?”

Responding to the error, a BBC spokesperson said: “We are investigating how this error occurred and the piece was amended as soon as it was spotted.

“We apologise for any offence that may have been caused.”

But it appears that Ball has taken it all in good humour.

On Monday afternoon, the 23-year-old tweeted: “Cheers @BBCSport think the name BALLSACK is going to haunt me for the rest of my days lol.”
