Alex Lozowski: Premiership survival and Champions Cup 'double' would eclipse past Saracens success

Alex Lozowski believes staying in the Premiership and winning the Champions Cup could be the best double of his Saracens career.

The centre has enjoyed plenty of success since moving to Allianz Park in 2016, winning two Premiership titles and two Champions Cups.

Lozowski was also part of the side that secured a domestic and European double last season, but he believes this year could eclipse that.

Saracens are battling away at the bottom of the Premiership after being deducted 35 points for salary cap breaches, while they can keep their European dream alive if they beat Ospreys tomorrow.

Lozowski said: “Without knowing what is going to happen in the end, if we do pull it off, then for me and a lot of the lads this would be right up there with everything we’ve achieved.

“It would be an extraordinary achievement and something that would knit us together and bind us together for a long time.

“It is something to get excited about. We are all pumped for it and this could be up there with the best memories we make as a team if we are able to achieve what we want to this year. It would be right up there with Premiership-winning, European-winning, double-winning seasons.”

Saracens realistically need to win

both of their final games in Pool 4, where they stand a point behind second-placed Munster, to qualify for the quarter-finals, but Lozowski says if they manage that, no one will want to face them.

“I don’t really see why we can’t win the Cup — we have got a big history in this competition,” he said. “If we do qualify, I don’t think many teams will want to play us in the quarter-final. We will see what happens.”
