Roma primed to strike loan deal with Manchester United for Saha

13 April 2012

Roma are ready to take Manchester United striker Louis Saha on loan with a view to a £7m move to Serie A.

The Italians want to be sure of Saha's fitness before sanctioning a permanent deal for the injury-plagued France striker whose Old Trafford career has ground to a halt following a series of injuries.

Off you go: Sir Alex Ferguson gives Louis Saha a helping hand

Ironically they are also looking at United target Luis Fabiano who is expected to leave Sevilla this summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson had the Brazilian watched last season, but Fabiano's agent Jose Fuentes has hinted that he may prefer a move to Rome where fellow countrymen Alexandre Doni, Rodrigo Taddei and Cicinho all play for last season's Serie A runners-up.

United are also being linked with Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones. Jones, 26, was one of the key members of the Schalke side which reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season, but was cut from Germany's final squad for Euro 2008.

He said: 'Man United are a class team. The interest makes me proud. But I still have a valid contract with Schalke.'
