Ranieri on racism, Wenger and Mutu

Ranieri was appalled by the racist abuse directed at England's players in Madrid last month, an issue which was raised again by Chelsea's visit to Oporto this week when Didier Drogba was targeted. But Ranieri said: "Spain is not a racist country and I don't know what happened. They made those noises as a joke but it's a very bad joke. They think the booing is a joke but it's unacceptable and they must learn it's racist.
"It's important that people like myself and the journalists educate people and tell them it's not right. It's a horrible experience for the players."

CLAUDIO ON WENGER

The Italian insists he has never had a problem with Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger, but is not surprised by their own repeated clashes.
Ranieri said: "It's no surprise that Wenger and Ferguson don't get on, because they're different yet the same.
"They're both winners and so a clash is inevitable. Wenger is a bad loser, but winning is easy. Losing is far more difficult.
"Wenger hates to lose but after we beat them at Highbury he was the first to come and shake my hand.
"He was very, very sad but had enough respect for me to shake my hand. Ferguson has always been the same."

CLAUDIO ON MUTU

Having paid £15.8million for Adrian Mutu, Ranieri has more reason than most to feel let down by the striker.
However, his initial reaction to the Romanian's drug problems is one of sympathy and he would not rule out signing him again.
He said: "I was very sad to hear about Mutu. He is a Latin man and when he had problems with his wife, his children and his football he took it badly. Mutu is only 25 and can make a comeback. He can turn a bad story into a good story if he is intelligent. He's a fantastic player and I wouldn't dismiss signing him again."
