'Radamel Falcao should not be playing before 3,000 fans' - Chelsea boss Jose Mourinhi hints at summer swoop for Colombian

Problem solver: Monaco and Colombia striker Radamel Falcao

Jose Mourinho has hinted Monaco striker Radamel Falcao could be the man to solve Chelsea’s ongoing striker problem.

The Blues boss currently has Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o in his squad, but none of the strikers has been able to find consistent form this season.

Falcao, a Colombia international, had scored nine goals in 17 appearances for Monaco this season before a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

But Mourinho has hinted at a possible future link up and, speaking to Canal Football Club, said: “I have a team, but no striker. Falcao does not have a team. A player like him can’t play in front of 3,000 people. Monaco is a club to end [your career with].”

The Portuguese also spoke about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Paris Saint Germain striker who he managed during his time at Inter Milan.

“Zlatan to Chelsea? It’s impossible,” said Mourinho. “He’s happy at Paris. I know because he is my friend and we are in touch.”

Chelsea are currently sitting top of the Premier League and will travel to Galatasaray on Wednesday for the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie.
