QPR chase teenage ace from Inter

13 April 2012

Queens Park Rangers are close to signing Inter Milan teenager Mattia Destro on a season-long loan.

The 17-year-old forward has been recommended to Rangers by former Inter boss Roberto Mancini following his outstanding displays for the club's youth team last season.

Destro could become the fourth player from an Italian club to join Rangers this summer. Midfielder Matteo Alberti has already moved from Chievo, while Rangers have secured young Fiorentina forwards Samuel Di Carmine and Matthias Lepiller on loan.

Rangers boss Iain Dowie is also keen to sign Manchester City forward Ched Evans on loan.

Meanwhile, Carlos Bocanegra, 29, has joined French side Rennes after being released by Fulham. The United States defender played 116 times for Fulham after signing from Chicago Fire in 2004.
