Enable can become the first two-time British-trained winner of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.

John Gosden’s four-year-old filly was an emphatic winner of Europe’s premier middle-distance race 12 months ago, when chalking up her fifth Group 1 race in succession, and showed her powers remain intact when brushing aside the smart Crystal Ocean on her return last month.

Her form is on a different plane to that of her 18 rivals and bookmakers quote her at about Evens to scoop the £2.5million first prize under Frankie Dettori, who is seeking a sixth triumph in the race.

A knee injury, suffered in May, robbed racing fans of Enable’s brilliance during the summer but the defence of her Arc crown has always been the main priority of her connections and she will be a fresh filly having been spared hard rehearsals.

Gosden’s principal concern has been the Longchamp turf, with some suggesting it has been neglected since the Paris course was reopened in the spring after a refurbishment. However, Enable, ideally drawn in stall six, has shown herself versatile regards the going.

Her biggest rival is set to be Sea Of Class, who landed the Yorkshire Oaks last time, while the pick of the home team could be Waldgeist, one of three challengers for trainer Andre Fabre.
