Peat's loses his passport to ride

Britain's top downhill mountain bike racer Steve Peat has seen his hopes of winning a world title hit after being kicked out of America.

The Sheffield racer has been thrown out of his winter training camp in California because he does not have a current working visa.

Authorities have tightened up on sportsmen who have played the system by flying home when a visa has run out before returning on the same sort of paperwork shortly after.

"With the problems with foot-and-mouth a lot of places we would ride in Britain we can't use right now," said disappointed Peat.
