Two members of the public 'blagged' their way onto the Team GB and ParalympicsGB parade bus in Manchester on Monday.

More than 200,000 people lined the streets to celebrate Britain's Olympic and Paralympic success following a record performance over the summer months in Rio.

Silver medalist Jess Ennis-Hill was among those to address the gathered crowds at Manchester's Town Hall following her recent retirement, but stars of the volodrome Laura Trott and Jason Kenny were absent as the pair celebrate their honeymoon.

The couple won five of Great Britain's 27 Olympic golds in Rio as Team GB enjoyed their best haul at an away games, while Sarah Storey became most decorated female Paralympian as she added three golds to the 147 medals won by Paralympic athletes.

Both Team GB and ParalympicsGB finished runners-up in their respective medals tables, but it seems not everyone acknowledging the support of the cheering crowds contributed in Brazil.

"What did you win?" a Sky News reporter asked two unfamiliar faces dressed in Team GB's official gear aboard the bus.

"So that was the Olympics..er...sorry, the fencing in the Olympics," one responded, seemingly realising his cover was blown.

Asked if it was a blagging Olympics, he went on: "A bit of one, a bit of one, yeah. We just bought the kit, got the medal and just thought we would give it a go.

"We actually got ushered on, it was actually completely against our will.

"We blag something every now and then."
