Frank Warren sues over Ricky Burns move

Frank Warren is suing WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns over his move to Matchroom Sport.

The 29-year-old Scot was unveiled as the latest arrival at Matchroom by managing director Eddie Hearn yesterday but Warren is now seeking “substantial damages” from his former fighter.

Warren (above) claimed Burns remained under contract with him and that he was still committed to the postponed unification contest against IBF champion Miguel Vazquez at Wembley Arena on April 20.

Hearn had earlier claimed that Burns’s deal with Warren was ended last week after a termination notice was sent to his rival promoter.
