OBE for Nasser as honours given out

Nasser Hussain?s contribution to the revival of England?s cricket team has been recognised by the award of an OBE in the New Year?s Honours.

Hussain, 33, led England to four consecutive series wins before Australia ended the run last summer. World heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis, previously an MBE, has been made a CBE. The 36-year-old lost his world titles in April to American Hasim Rahman, but regained the WBC, IBF and IBO titles in November?s re-match.

Another Lewis was made a CBE ? Tony Lewis, the former MCC president who has presided over a series of changes at cricket?s most prestigious club. Under the former England captain, women were admitted to the MCC for the first time and Lord?s underwent a massive modernisation programme.

Former Watford and England manager Graham Taylor has been made an OBE. An MBE went to Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister after the 37-year-old Scot helped them to last season?s UEFA, FA and Worthington Cups.

Cyclist Yvonne McGregor, who won bronze at the Sydney Olympics, gets an MBE, as has former Olympic fly-weight boxer Terry Spinks.

Max Faulkner, winner of The Open in 1951 has been made an OBE. for his services to golf.
