Brian Lara's appearance at Lord's this week, when he will open an MCC exhibition celebrating his genius, will remind the West Indies team of what they will miss during the forthcoming series.

The hole created by him was emphasised as the tourists plunged to 44-4 in their only warm-up match, against Somerset.
