No brotherly love, says Ralf

13 April 2012

Ralf Schumacher insists he's not at Magny-Cours to help his brother Michael win his fifth Formula One championship.

Michael Schumacher will secure the title on Sunday if he finishes first without either of his two top rivals - Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello or Juan Pablo Montoya of BMW Williams - taking second place.

That means that Ralf could help decide the championship by coming second - with his brother winning.

But Ralf, claiming to be unaware of the implication, said: "I certainly try myself to be first if not second."

It wouldn't be the first time the older Schumacher has been assisted this season. In the Austrian Grand Prix in May, Ferrari ordered teammate Barrichello to let the German pass him to win the race and strengthen his hold on the season standings.

Meanwhile, Jacques Villeneuve has told his employers at BAR Honda that he's not looking for another team.

"I don't see any reason for not being with BAR next year," said Villeneuve. "It would really take something extreme."

The Canadian finished fourth in the British GP at Silverstone.
