Newton loses appeal

12 April 2012

Bradford hooker Terry Newton has lost his appeal against a three-match ban imposed for a high tackle in the Bulls' controversial 42-38 defeat by Leeds.

The Great Britain international was placed on report by referee Steve Ganson for a 12th-minute challenge on Leeds prop Jamie Thackray, and yesterday's disciplinary committee found him guilty of a reckless high tackle.

His failure to overturn the suspension means he will miss Bradford's Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at Wakefield and the subsequent engage Super League games against Huddersfield and Harlequins.
