Nelson is key for Allen

Stuart Nelson is back in Martin Allen's good books after keeping a clean sheet in Brentford's 1-0 win over Walsall.

The former Millwall goalkeeper was at fault on several occasions during a miserable festive run of three successive defeats.

But a 25th-minute winner, claimed by Jay Tabb but 'credited' as an own-goal by Joe Broad, stopped the rot and the Brentford manager said: "I was particularly pleased for our goalkeeper. He knows he made a couple of mistakes that have cost us dearly. He's been very upset, very disappointed in his own performance and he knows he's cost the team points.

"Against Walsall he made the saves and I was so pleased for him. When you go over that line the pressure's on you, it's bloody hard."
