Monaco ready to take Leboeuf home

Monaco have yet to make a formal offer for Chelsea's World Cup- winning defender Frank Leboeuf.

In fact, according to Chelsea managing director Colin Hutchinson today, they have not had any communication from the French side at all about Leboeuf.

The centre-half, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the end of next season, is understood to be Monaco's top target along with Chelsea's on-loan fullback Christian Panucci.

Monaco are 15th in the French League and coach Claude Puel is desperate to reinforce their defence.

Hutchinson said: "We have had no approach whatsoever from Monaco."

Leboeuf said: "I've got nothing to say and I have not heard anything at the moment."

However, the emergence of England under-21 international John Terry this season could well signal Leboeuf's departure.

Monaco believe Chelsea would be willing to sell the Frenchman, who is 33 later this month, for around £3 million.

Monaco are resigned to losing captain Martin Djetou, a target for Arsenal, at the end of the season and would like to add to their squad before he leaves.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are continuing to monitor the situation over £12m-rated Robbie Fowler at Liverpool, who was injured in a nightclub incident yesterday.

The Anfield side were today linked with a move for Barcelona's Finnish striker Jari Litmanen which could signal Fowler's departure. Litmanen said: "It has always been my dream to play for Liverpool.

"I have supported them since I was a child and there has been talk about me joining them before.

"I seem to have been linked with every club in Europe but it's no secret that Liverpool have always been very special to me."
