McNamara keeps mind on Europe

14 April 2012

Jackie McNamara insists he and his Celtic team-mates are putting all the speculation about manager Martin O'Neill being wanted by Tottenham to the back of their minds as they prepare for tonight's Champions League clash with Lyon.

The utility player said: "We are just getting on with it. The boss is always being linked with other clubs and it shows that everyone thinks he is good at his job.

"We are just looking forward to a game we have to win. We are at home and we have to get the three points, but Lyon are a good side with good players and they will cause us problems. We will have to be at our best to beat them."

Celtic striker Henrik Larsson will be out to prove a point after Lyon's Giovane Elber accused him of being a big shot in Scotland but unproved at the top level.

Larsson's team-mate Neil Lennon countered. "He is one of the best strikers in the world. I hope we continue to make people eat their words. Maybe it will give Henrik a bit more of an incentive."

  • Celtic v Lyon, Celtic Park, tonight, 7.45pm, live on ITV2
