Masters golf 2016 odds: Five outsiders for the green jacket at Augusta National

The usual names are being touted to win the Masters this April, but golf’s most prestigious tournament has a habit of throwing up surprises.

One of the biggest was South African Trevor Immelman who came from nowhere to win the 2008 Masters and never again troubled the top 10.

But most onlookers are backing the obvious choices.

Past winners such as Bubba Watson and Adam Scott are widely tipped to do well again this year, while the world’s top 3 golfers, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are all contenders to wear the green jacket for the first time.

Augusta National, where the Masters takes place every year, is famed for its difficulty.

The greens are ultra-fast making iron play particularly important which is why world-class ball strikers like Watson and Scott have performed so well there in the past.

But with nearly 90 golfers teeing off at Augusta National on April 7, there is still room for surprises.
