Marathon grants top £2m

13 April 2012

The London Marathon Charitable Trust today announced record grants of more than £2million.

The Trustees made this distribution in December as a result of the highest surplus received from the Flora London Marathon.

Since its inauguration, the Trust has donated more than £14m to projects in the capital. Already this year 37 projects across 28 boroughs have been allocated grants of between £8,000 and £500,000.

The largest grant of £500,000 has been set aside to help preserve or improve playing fields for community use.

Other significant donations include two grants of £100,000 - one for a new sports facility in Docklands and the other towards a sports field development in Rotherhithe.
