Katarina Johnson-Thompson edges out Team GB team-mate Jessica Ennis-Hill to wins the women's long jump at the London Anniversary Games on Saturday.

Heptathlete Johnson-Thompson was impressive as she jumped 6.84metres - just 8cm off a personal best - on her fourth attempt to win and boost her hopes for the Rio Olympics.

Ennis-Hill couldn't find her form as she jumped 6.19m to finish seventh, while world silver-medallist Shara Proctor finished second with 6.80m.

Johnson-Thimpson told BBC Sport after the event: "It's just the stadium, every time I come here I do a good job in the long jump.

"It's exactly what I wanted before Rio. It gives me confidence I can get on the board there. Jess is such a strong competitor I know she'll do better than that at the Olympics.

"Gold will not be an easy job for anyone. I've got to step up to the competition."

Ennis-Hill's trainer Toni Minichiello said: "I'm a little bit frustrated. Jess was leaning back a lot and slowing down into the final steps.

"There's a bit of a headwind out there but it's not an excuse, she just wasn't in an optimum position on the board.

"I haven't managed to speak with her but I'm happy I'm not travelling back to Sheffield with her today because she'll be frustrated She's been training much better than that."

Elsewhere in Saturday's action, David Weir declared himself "happy" with his third-placed finish in the T54 1500m and said he wants to go one better than London 2012 and bid for a staggering five gold medals at the Rio Paralympics.

Meanwhile, Usain Bolt cruised to victory in the 200m on Friday night to send a message to his rivals ahead of the Rio Olympics.
