Lonard's case for defence

Defending champion Peter Lonard scored a six-under-par 66 to share the first-round lead with Marcus Cain in the Australian Masters at Melbourne's Huntingdale course.

Lonard, who had four top-10 finishes in his rookie season on the US Tour, and fellow-Australian Cain both included eight birdies and two bogeys on their cards.
