Lewis Hamilton has said he won’t put his phone away in the drivers’ press conference later today.

The world champion was criticised after turning to Snapchat when he met the world’s media last week ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix and posted pictures of him and Carlos Sainz with bunny ears on.

The Briton, bidding to overhaul a 33-point deficit to team-mate Nico Rosberg, has been named as one of the six drivers in the press conference for the US Grand Prix in Austin.

“This is a free opportunity for me to show my good looks and have some fun,” he said. “My phone will probably be there for me, we’ll see. I’ll definitely take a picture.”

Hamilton defended his approach at Suzuka, adding: “I’m never going to change that… that’s why I have more followers than any other driver.”
