Lampard - Wrongdoing must be stopped

12 April 2012

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has backed the Lord Stevens inquiry into football corruption.

Stevens' preliminary findings showed 39 transfers involving eight teams require further investigation, and 28-year-old England international Lampard believes underhand behaviour should be stamped out.

"If there is wrongdoing in the game, then it has to be stopped," Lampard said in The Sun.

There have been suggestions that players rather than clubs will have to pay agents' fees in the future, and Lampard added: "I'll be happy to pay my agent.

"I don't have a problem with that and nor do I have a problem with anything which makes the game more transparent. There has been too much negativity around football lately."
